OK MY LuLu IS ONLY FIVE WEEKS OLD, BUT I'M HAVING MY OWN ISSUES!!! I KNOW SHE IS YOUNG AND I TALKED TO MY BREEDER AND I TOLD HER THAT WHEN I FEED HER SHE BACKS OFF FROM ME. I'M GIVING HER TWO FEEDING A DAY BOTH AT 40cc. SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE WAS BEGINNING TO REJECT THE FORMULA. HOWEVER, I CHOSE TO GO FOR A SECOND OPINION, I WAS TOLD TO JUST SEE HOW SHE WOULD DO IF I JUST THINNED OUT THE FORMULA, SHE DID GREAT WITH A THINNER FORMULA!!! YOU CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW ECSTATIC I WAS WHEN I SAW HOW WELL SHE ATE!!! ANYWAY THATS BESIDES THE POINT...I PLAY WITH HER NON STOP I LOVE HER TO DEATH, NOT ONLY BECAUSE SHE IS MY BABY, BUT WE SHARE SO MUCH LOVE WITH ONE ANOTHER WE EVEN SHARE THE SAME HATCH DATE TOGETHER!!! HAHAHAHA...WELL, HERE IS MY CONCERN AFTER WE PLAY AND I LEAVE HER ON HER OWN SHE RESTS. I KNOW I TIRE HER, BUT, WHEN SHE DOES REST, SHE IS RESTING IN A MANNER AS IF THOUGH SHE LOOKS LIKE SHE IS ABOUT TO DIE, AS IF THOUGH SHE IS ABOUT TO TAKE HER LAST BREATH!!! NORMALLY SHE STICKS HER HEAD BEHIND HER LEFT WING; WHEN SHE RESTS SHE LIES FLAT WING SPREAD OPEN AND HEAD FLAT ON THE FLOOR!!! IS THIS NORMAL? WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MY LuLu? I'M REALLY SCARED!!!

Young birds need lots of sleep and I think it is normal to sleep lying down rather than the way an adult does. Keep a daily record of her weight.

They sleep like that until they can make it to a perch. This first level is where the feed and water bowls should be placed. Once in the vacinity of the feed you will observe a lesser want for formula. You should see a small dip in weight during the transition but should rise again and steady out when fully mature. These weight measurements are a must with a bird of your age. Look at my website. there is a section under My Flock called baby pics. Look at the way those chicks sit in the bowl; this is the same posture used to sleep except they wanted fed at that instance. As far as Thinking the FAQ board is inadequate, I have two points to dicsuss 1.) That took Jane hours to compile and post. Her knowledge is second to none in my mind because I have watched it grow over several years. 2.) Greys are as individual as people and there is no way to custom taylor a FAQ for your bird without first hand knowledge; therefor we rely on you to be smarter than your bird, and observe it's personality to make your own adjustments. I lend lenience to you because of your age. This is a huge undertaking for a young man to tackle. This bird could well be a your retirement party and beyond. Your friend will advance at it's own pace, you just have to be there to provide the essentials, first of which is observation. Let me close with: Enjoy the forun, keep us posted. but try not bash what you either do not understand or does not suit your needs. We work to hard on this forum to keep everyone and their birds happy, voluntarily.

First off I would like to say that your bird should be on at LEAST 3 feedings at only 5 weeks of age... I am finishing my AG that I brought home at 8 1/2 weeks old and she was still on 3 feedings... She went to two feeding at 10weeks... Your bird is WAY too young to be on 2 feedings....
As far as how they sleep, yes, they sleep all funny looking on the ground laying flat...
Please consider giving your baby 3 feedings. There may be somthing wrong with it if he/she isnt getting the nutrients it needs to grow...

FIRST OF ALL I WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU ALL AGMOMMY, PRESTON, AND JANE FOR YOUR ADVICE...I KNOW YOUR "FAQ" PROVIDES A VARIETY OF INFO PLEASE DONT THINK I'M A DUMB KID, AND I'M NOT JUST TRYING TO BE A SMART A** ABOUT MY QUESTIONS, I'M JUST TRYING TO GET ADVICE ON DOES AND DONTS I KNOW WE ALL HAVE TO COPE WITH OUR OWN CAGS, AND DEAL WITH OUR OWN SITUATIONS BUT I JUST FREAK OUT ABOUT EVERYTHING AND EVERY SOUND SHE MAKES!!! SHE HAS MADE IT VERY CLEAR TO ME WHAT SHE LIKES AND DOESN'T LIKE...IM NOT JOKING ON THIS ONE BUT SHE IS ALREADY TRYING TO TALK UP A STORM, SHE LOVES THE COLOR RED, AND ORANGE!!! ANOTHER THING MY LuLu IS BEGINNING TO FLAP HER WINGS ALOT, IS IT OK IF I STICK HER ON HIGH PLACES OR SHOULD I NOT ENCOURAGE HER FLIGHT THIS EARLY? JUST SO THAT YOU KNOW I DO KEEP IN TOUCH WITH THE BREEDER, AND SHE TOLD ME IT WAS OK TO CALL HER ANYTIME 24/7 SHOULD I NEED ANYTHING!!! BUT, THEN I ALWAYS HAVE YOU GUYS AS WELL...THANKS TO ALL ONCE AGAIN. GOODNIGHT!!! ;D ;D ;D

No. Lulu is too young to fly. She might fall and hurt herself.

That age makes a lot more sense, based on the things you said she was doing!

Yes I totally agree... I am glad I said somthing otherwise you might not ever know her real age. So if she is that age, let her clime and perch where she wants... and at that age on two feedings is just right, but you should also be feeding her a weaning pellet, I dont have the name off hand its not a pellet, looks like little flowers, you know the colored food you can buy? There is a weaning type that you can get she should be offered that, and of course fresh fruits and vegi's... Sydney picked right up on the "crazy corn" brand of bird food that you cook. she also loves beak appetite brands as well.
