Hi everyone.
So I dont have my own bird but I've been looking after my girlfriends for the past week while she's on holiday.
Safe to say I'm already attached to the little guy and thinking bout getting my own now
I'm worried about this one though. He is 9 months old and still has no inner wing feathers.
Could someone please give their input as all the research I've done has led me to a dead end

Hello and welcome to the forum. He should have all his feathers by now. I am not sure what you mean.
If the wings have been clipped it is the outer primary flight feathers that are clipped.

Hello and welcome to the forum. He should have all his feathers by now. I am not sure what you mean. If the wings have been clipped it is the outer primary flight feathers that are clipped. Jane Jane thank you so much for the warm welcome. So the bird was bought at 2 months old. My brother in law says that the petshop took him to the back to have the wings clipped just before purchase and he didn't see if the bird had inner wing feathers. So we don't really know if the bird even had the inner wings to begin with. He has taken the bird to a different petshop since then and they informed him that "the bone is has dried up" That sounds absurd to me. So I'm just checking with other owners if missing inner wing feathers is normal or what exactly could be the case...

Welcome to the forum! I would go to an actual avian vet to see what is going on with the flight feathers or lack of them. I don't have a lot of confidence in pet shops diagnosing bird medical problems. My 14 year old grey, Sheeba has never tried to fly, and is missing a few flight feathers on both wings. She has never had them clipped in the last 6 years, so she obviously has a problem with feathers that won't grow back. She gets along fine, and it probably disturbs me more than it does her.
I would love to see her fly. But to be sure about your bird, see a vet.

Hi,
We just got a bird from a pet stall in Kuwait. The inner wing feathers have been obviously clipped.

Welcome to the forum jockmcfrog.
When a bird's feather's are clipped, it is usually the outer feathers. Clipping the inner feathers can leave the outer feathers susceptible to damage.
The only thing you can do is wait for new feathers to come in which can take quite a while.
