They are very intelligent creatures and can recognise different people. They can solve puzzles to get food and they also play with toys.
Researchers at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte in Brazil have discovered that they sleep in two distinct sleep states and they might dream. Octopuses were filmed in a lab and during "quiet sleep" they were still and quiet, their skin was pale and their pupils contracted to a slit. During "active sleep" their skin changed colour, they moved their eyes and their muscles twitched. This state is thought to be analogous to REM sleep in humans, when dreaming takes place. These dreams are likely to be in very short snapshot type sequences rather than the complex dreams humans have.
I am not surprised, I see no reason why many intelligent creatures wouldn't dream in some way.

I am sure that all intelligent creatures dream but what about?

I know I even used to hear Manzi dreaming. He'd make noises with his head tucked behind his wing and would be twitching. My dog does that too.

It would be cool to be able to watch the animal dreams. Are octopuses dreaming of catching food in the ocean? Or nightmares of sharks chasing them?

Octopuses are pretty remarkable, highly intelligent. Sheeba dreams, she actually mutters words while sleeping.

I would think what Octopuses dream about is related to their daily experiences. It might just be simple dreaming about what happened to them that day.
Humans have a much more complex life, we socialise, we read, we watch TV, we listen to music, we have concepts about religions and beliefs etc. We are imaginative and creative. We can have very detailed dreams that seem to go on all night even though the length of an individual dream isn't that long.
