Like 5 years ago, my husband got this electronic power strip that had a 5 minute battery. So if power went out, then it gives him 5 minutes to safely shut down our computers/hard drives. It usually is useful a handful of times per year.
But this morning, at 6:30am, there was a piercing alarm. It took a couple minutes to figure out that it was coming from that device, and to shut it off. Not only did it wake up our kids, Maui found the noise quite entertaining. What's more, the device was no longer powering anything, and all the electronics were shut off. So it was sending out a hail mary that it is no longer working. We were wondering why the heck it would have a piercing alarm for that (the warning makes sense, cause we can do something, but when it has already failed, it is useless).
The rest of the morning Maui continued to alarm us!! My husband instantly regretted getting that device! By this evening though, Maui's already forgotten it. She never really forgets things though. I'm sure we'll be hearing it again.

It is funny how they pick up the noises you don't want them to, especially the ear piercing ones. They must be easier or more interesting to imitate.

Maui just wanted to make doubly sure you were aware of the situation.

My husband had one of those things. They last for 4 or 5 years. He had it for his equipment in the basement. One day he went down and there was a horrible noise coming from it. He had been wondering why the company kept sending him emails saying it was time to replace it. At least it was downstairs and Chy didn't pick up the noise.
