Okay, so another vet is going to do a remote consultation with Manzi. This other vet is an avian board certified vet with 30 yrs experience. I'll keep you updated on the results. Should come within the next couple days.
Manzi is doing slightly better every day. He is getting stronger and stronger, but he still isn't perching on his own. He just stands on the ground. He's been doing whistle sessions with Maui (the first one yesterday) all on his own. I was able to get him to chat before, but that was with a lot of encouragement. Yesterday, the kids got up, and the birds both started whistling/chirping/chatting, all without my encouragement. Since then, he's been getting more and more vocal again.
He's also sleeping less and less and now stays awake for hours at a time. He still takes lots of naps during the day though, where he slouches off to the side.

It sounds like he is really improving. I will be interested to hear what the new vet has to say.

This morning I finally heard back from the experienced Avian vet. He said Manzi should still be on both anti-inflammatory medication and additional pain medication. He also had a very positive outlook and thinks there is a good chance Manzi will have a full recovery.
Manzi stepped up on my hand for the first time yesterday. But he only lasted about 10 seconds before he couldn't hold himself up anymore. Still, that is a big step forward. I continue to do weigh-ins and Manzi is maintaining his weight. He's also been quite chatty. I still wouldn't say as chatty as his normal self, but it is getting closer.
Two days ago, when I was doing a weigh in, I noticed a missing feather on top of his head. Upon closer inspection, he had a scab and decent sized wound under his feathers. I'm keeping an eye on the wound. It is definitely healing and doesn't look infected. That might have been the original injury spot. He's never had an injury of that size before.

Glad to hear he is improving.
The head wound is probably from crashing into something.

It is wonderful that the vet thinks Manzi will make a full recovery. It sounds like he is really doing well. Keep it up Manzi.

Some days I feel like Manzi isn't recovering, cause he's still a long way from being fully recovered. But today, for the first time, he was able to sleep with his beak tucked behind his wing. Previously, when he tried to sleep like that, his head couldn't reach and instead he would give up and droop his head off to the side. But now he's taken a couple naps with his head nicely tucked in. Something even better, he's tucked it in on both sides. So his head tilt is getting much better.
He is started to get more shaky though, almost like he has parkinson's disease. Not sure if maybe cause he's regaining some strength, and it is just not stable yet, or cause something else is affecting him.

It sounds like he is getting better since he is sleeping with his head tucked. Is he shaky a lot or only occasionally?

He is kinda shaky when he's reaching for something. Just resting, he doesn't shake. He has another vet appointment soon, so I'll see what they say.

That sounds like a movement and coordination issue. It could still be due to the original brain injury rather than something new, in the sense of post trauma.
Humans can develop problems, such as epilepsy for example, some time after brain injuries.
