Mitzi wants to make baby chicks. I feel so sorry for her because she comes up to me and holds her wings out in such a precise way and then the huffing and puffing and squeaking starts and I have to distract her. She doesn't really do it all that often and when she does it always seems so much more heartfelt.

Yeah, that seems so sad. I recently saw a picture where a guy gave his african grey a fertile chick egg, and she sat on it and raised a baby chicken. I found that amusing and considered it with Maui. Maui is more interested in the egg/baby part rather than the mating part.
But with Maui, she needs to be out and moving around, or her health declines, so I don't think giving her a chicken egg would be a good option.

Chy was in mating mode for a while. She would sit on top of her cage and wave her foot as if wanting to be picked up. When I put my hand up to her, she grabbed my fingers and started cooing and regurgitating. I had to go away while she calmed down. She did this for several days. She is back to normal now.
