It is interesting how different Monty and Mitzi are. Mitzi has always been the typical Grey - nervous of anything new, panicking and growling. Monty is much more relaxed and accepting. I put a new perch in the cage, not only a new one but I put it in a place they have never had a perch before. Mitzi was immediately frightened of it and refused to go on it although I did manage to get her to take a pine nut off it.
Monty didn't seem bothered. After a while I got Monty and put him on the perch. He sat there for a bit, then his expression changed and he started looking around. Then ever so casually he slowly got off the perch and moved away. He hasn't been back since. Mitzi has refused to take any more pine nuts off it and one is still there untouched.

They are funny about changes to their environment. I recently painted Sheeba's outdoor cage with the Ecospaint and rearranged her perches. She didn't want to go inside, stood on top looking at everything, but she saw some new birdfood and that convinced her to get over it.

I put Monty on it again and he stayed for longer this time. Once Mitzi saw him on it she got quite jealous and then she wanted to go on it. Jane
