I bought another one for them today. It has three big buttons and plays music and also has coloured lights which come on when the music plays. Mitzi learnt how to operate it very quickly.
The toy is made in Montreal, it is Baby Wee Jams Radio toy.

It arrived this afternoon, Sheeba was scared of it. Then figured out she could press the buttons. I will have to keep an eye on it when she plays with it, she's a destroyer!

Mitzi was scared of it to start with but I persuaded her to touch it by giving her pine nuts and then she very quickly realised she could operate it. I have never seen her get used to a toy so quickly! She hasn't managed to destroy it yet apart from the little loop of softer plastic which attaches the triangular shape "handle" to the rest of the toy. She has chewed right through that.

Jane, can you give the name of the toy? I can't find it online. Thanks.

It is Battat toys Wee Jams Radio. It is described as a 3 in 1 retro style radio. It has three big buttons and plays six tunes and there are also lights in the buttons when it is played. I bought it in a toy shop but it is the same as this (scroll down for the main toy shown): www.amazon.com/B-Toys-Portable-Non-Toxic-BPA-Free/dp/B01FFYLVDA The cream coloured loop under the purple handle part is softer plastic and Mitzi chewed through that but the rest of the toy is robust. I have attached it to the cage bars the other way up (by the curly part with the rings on) so that the buttons are at the top. They both play with it. Jane

We bought the musical toy for Manzi, and by the evening, we kept hearing music, thinking one of the kids toys were making noise. We cleaned them all up, then noticed Manzi playing with the musical toy. He loves it. Maybe a bit too much. Within a day, he got one layer of plastic removed. I'm hoping he doesn't get through the next layer of plastic because then it is all electronics and batteries.
Maui actually got jealous too, since Manzi loves the toy so much. She stayed away from it and then got aggressive when me or Manzi got close to her. Like she was mad about the whole thing.

He chewed off this part. I can see the electronics inside, but so far, the next layer of plastic has held up. He also chewed off the bottom rubbery piece (I hung it upside down from the start as you suggested). Sometimes I can hear it playing music in the morning before the kids are up. It isn't too loud, and the birds don't make any other noise. I just know that Manzi is already awake and playing with it.

Mitzi has only chewed through the rubbery piece which is unusual because she is generally quite destructive whereas Monty isn't destructive.
Monty and Mitzi are very different. I once had a wooden toy which had coloured rings on pegs. The rings could be taken off but Mitzi didn't play with it, she just chewed the wood up. Before it was completely destroyed I saw Monty methodically removing all the rings.

Awww, that's cute Jane.
Manzi finished destroying the musical toy. He chewed through the plastic part that I was using to hang it with, then chewed through the main part. Sometimes he is very destructive, but most of the time he isn't. Maybe because he's been more lovey-dovey with Maui, so he has to destroy other things that come in his cage?
He didn't look aggressive towards the toy though. Like he wasn't fluffed at it or anything, just really interested in it.

Maybe Manzi destroyed it because it was something different and it was interesting to take apart. I think they are sometimes just determined to destroy items. Mitzi once had a rope swing, she really liked sitting on it but she kept chewing through it while she was sitting on it and then of course she fell off it. I mended it a few times but in the end I couldn't repair it any further so I had to remove it.
