For those who have been following the thread about displays: africangreyparrot.info/thread/8389/displays the behaviour that has been going on with Monty and Mitzi is interesting. They seem to have got into some sort of routine. Each evening now, at around the same time, as regular as clockwork, Mitzi will be eating and Monty will be on the perch displaying to her. Mitzi is eating in a very particular way though, she puts her head deep into the bowl and rummages around for a while then suddenly pops her head right up again. It isn't the way she normally eats. I think she actually enjoys the attention and she has learnt that Monty will display to her when she is eating. It is as if she goes to eat specifically for that reason because normally in the evening she doesn't want food from the bowl, she wants Nutriberries from me and she constantly chirrups for them. Now, she has started going to that particular perch and eating several times in the evening and each time she does so Monty displays to her. Jane

I wonder what is making Monty display like that. Maybe he finds Mitzi's eating style particularly attractive? That is pretty funny.

I am not sure which came first but I think Mitzi only started the exaggerated eating style after Monty started displaying. Sometimes she will put her head deep in the bowl and then pop up as if to say: "Oh are you still there", but then she has been going to that particular food bowl a lot more than she used to, as if she is encouraging him to display.

It is the way she bends over and puts her tail in the air. LOL

Despite his determined attempts, I don't think Mitzi is interested. She seems a bit bemused by his behaviour. She puts her head in the bowl but she has an eye just peeping out to check on him. They are 27 and 25 and he has never displayed to her before but now it is every evening!
