Beaker's bedtime is from 7 to 8 pm although on the weekends he is allowed to "burn it" a bit.
On Sunday night he decided to be confrontational about bedtime.
That is, he takes up a stance at the bottom of the cage door so you can't close it, he won't allow it.
If you try to get him on your hand he pushes it away or gets "nippy" but not lunging and biting.
It is just a big game of "who is in charge".
So, I sat back in my chair and then all of a sudden I look at him and declare,"What was that?!"
He perks right up and as we all know, they hear everything, so he is confused he missed something.
Then I say,"Oh oh, Trevor (my son) is coming down".
Beaker then runs to the perch in his cage as my son and him play some kind of chase me game.
Only this time, there was no son and I closed and locked the cage door as I said good night.
Beaker looked at me like,"Ok smart guy your time is coming!".

That's funny! I'm sure Beaker will have his revenge - it's only a matter of time!

Tonight I had done a big clean of the perches and replaced a woven soft perch so Chy went and hid under the kitchen table refusing to go in her cage. I had to pick her up and put her in the cage closing the door behind her. She sulked at the bottom until I covered her up. Then I heard her climb up onto her sleeping perch. If she can't see the scary perch, it doesn't exist.
These greys are something else!

Those are funny stories! Sometimes Manzi gets defiant like that, but the last couple years I've been using his favorite treat and he happily goes into his cage to get it. Every once in a while, he'll refuse and run to the top, back of his cage where I can't reach him, but I just walk away and his desire for the treat gets the better of him.

Chy ate her breakfast hanging upside down so she didn't have to sit on a newly scrubbed perch.

These are all funny. Ruby is a real pill when it comes to returning to her cage, and I mean a REAL pill. Can't say as I totally blame her of course!
The only exception is bedtime where we have a ritual where she goes behind a pillow on the couch (we call it her "cave") when it gets dark. She'll cuddle up in there until around 10 or 11 when we go to bed, at which point she'll do a 'step up' like an angel and usually even give a few kisses while I'm walking her to her cage.
A devil and an angel ... you get both with an AG!
