Hi all my little guy turns one today ! Very excited about him and I love him very much . Just looking for input , When if so did your African gray begin to talk ? Xeno mimics sounds ( like outside birds or barking dogs ) but still has not spoken words . He is very cuddly and loving towards me Ofcourse haha . Just looking to see opinions if he will ever say words . Regardless I will always love the little guy ! Thanks all

The age at which they start to talk can vary from a few months to two years. Not all Greys do talk alhough I think it is more unusual for them not to. Mitzi started at 5 months but Monty doesn't talk and never has.

Both my greys were very big talkers. Max started around 6 months with single words. Chyloe started at 5 months. Her first words were, "I love you".
Your grey could still talk. Some don't talk until they are two.

My guy didn't talk until he was a year old. He can say sentences, but is not a huge talker like others on here. My guy never spoke with me, or even tried. Then when he was a year old, I took a week trip and left him with a friend. They played words on a tape for him over and over (like "Hello") and when I came back, he was talking. I thought he may never talk, but he just didn't get the right motivation. Now he says around 250 words (measured over the course of a few years). My female talks much more than my male and she does several voices. I think it is just different personalities.
