Mitzi has started playing the "lucky dip" game with her food again. She puts her foot in the bowl, picks up a footful of food then drops it on the floor. When I tell her to stop wasting food she starts eating some intently and looks at me until I look away. Then I hear another footful of food landing on the floor.

Both Max and Chy have done that too. Must be a grey thing.

She is still doing it, but she only does it with "her" bowl. There are two bowls for dry food, one by Monty's favourite perch and one by Mitzi's. Entirely of their own choosing, they mainly eat of their own bowl but they do sometimes eat out of each others.

That's pretty funny, but probably a bit frustrating for you Jane. Does she have access to the food she dropped? Or is it too far below the grate?
Maui is a lot more wasteful than Manzi, so sometimes I'll put a newspaper on top of the grate, so she can then go to the bottom (which she does a lot anyway) and pick up the food she dumped out. When I do that, she does go back and graze through all of her dumped food.

She can reach below the grate but she doesn't pick up the food she has thrown out of the bowl, possibly because it is too small and fiddly. She will sometimes pick up larger things that have accidentally fallen through such as sugar snap pea pods or bits of biscuit.
I did used to put paper on the grate but Mitzi just chewed it up. I also used to put paper on the tray but she pulled it through the grate and chewed that up as well so I don't use anything now.

Sheeba likes to take a mouthful of food, carry it to the top of the cage, dropping most along the way, eat what's left, throwing it here and there and then go back down for another mouthful. And repeat, until I close the cage door with her inside, then she stops eating. About 6 months ago I had to buy one of those big plastic "seed corrals", to keep her from throwing all the food out of her dish, which became a daily game. Throw it all out and then sit at the dish, waiting for me to fill it up, as if the second dish of food will be better! I actually think greys create activities that make us work so they can watch us do things that they want us to do.
The only "normal" eating habit is when we sit and share whatever it is I am eating. Then she will actually sit and eat and not make it a wasteful/fun activity.

Beaker hasn't figured that out, although he does manage to dump a bowl over once in awhile.
However, if he doesn't touch his dinner, he gets served it again the next day, which he then consumes.

Chyloe likes to bring her food out of the cage to eat it just to give me stuff to sweep up.

I have tried to stop her doing it by removing the bowl as soon as she starts. (There is food in the other bowl, so I am not being cruel) I thought maybe she would learn that if she does it she will lose the bowl but it hasn't stopped her. I think she just sees it as a game.

WOW! My Pumkin does all those things, and I thought it was because he did not like like that type of food anymore (Zupreen Fruit Blend) but from reading your post it seems normal, with his new cage the food bowls are in the cage but his old cage the bowls were on the outside and he would have to stick his head outside to feed. There was wasting but not as much, I should of thought of that when I purchased his new cage this year. now he'll grab a handful of pellets and if I'm looking just hold it in the air and as soon as I turn my back to him there it goes all over the floor, then he'll grab another hand full and stare at me waiting for me to look the other way. now I have been trying to put just a few pellets at a time and found out that he will eat those. it's just when I put a couple of small scoops in. now he won't do it with his fruit or any other food in the other bowls. I think he just wants to see me sweep the floor all the time. he must get a kick out of it.
