This video shows Beaker getting his weekly air bath. He tolerates it very well with no drama. Boy, is he DUSTY!

That is incredible how he lets you do that.

I might have to try that with Sheeba, she needs a good air bath. She hates water and she is also going through a molt, losing tons of down and small feathers, plus all that dust. Our vacuum cleaner works overtime.
What type of compressor do you use? how much pressure do you have it set to?
Thanks, Thomas

I set the pressure to about 50 lbs, and as you can tell by the video I don't point it at his head.
FYI, I didn't just start spraying him with an air hose.
This first started out with him sitting on my shoulder and he watched me blow stuff out of my hair and off my clothes when I work in the garage or my little shop.
I introduced him to the sprayer by letting him taste/bite it and got that part out of the way.
I am sure it is not his "favorite" interaction with me, but he is a very good sport about it.
IMO he is healthier as he doesn't inhale the stuff when preening.
Also, I have a theory of the dust becoming an irritant and causing feather pulling.
If he was a flyer, some of it would shake off, but AG's and cockatoos are two of the dustiest birds around.
As a side note, a friend of mine used to be in 4H and when he saw me clean Beaker, he thought it was great and wished he thought of that with his show birds.

That is pretty amazing. I'm going to try it with Manzi. I think he would freak out hearing the air compressor fill up with air (I'll have to leave him inside for that). But that looks great for them.
How long does it take Beaker to get his feathers all preened and smooth looking again?

It takes Beaker a few hours or overnight.
What I really notice is his nostrils are not caked, they are very clear.
You know how much they preen and have their head stuck in their back, right where all the dust resides.
I really am convinced that it makes him feel better.
