My name is Charleigh, pronounced like Charlie. I live in Florida with my fiance, our toddler and our Pembroke Welsh Corgi.
About mid January, after MUCH research and time I came home with a pair of budgies. To my surprise, my fiance lit up and expressed he had a love for parrots and had been around them for the majority of his life. This tickled me; still learning new things after almost a decade together. Awesome. So, I was looking at mutations budgies acquire and found one I really liked from a "breeder" about an hour from us. He had multiple kinds of finches, lovebirds and many more. It was overwhelming. I won't go into detail but these birds we not treated well and the guy struck a deal with me. Again, I'm leaving out details on purpose (it was bad). Long story very short, I ended up leaving with 14 budgies. No bird, especially a parrot, deserves a life like what was provided. We got them out of that environment and they are thriving in our home. After months of getting everything just right and tons of work, these guys are free flying around the house and having a ball. (We work from home, but not getting much done as we're constantly watching these guys do their thing!)
Here's the kicker.. Sean, my fiance, told me his dream bird was a CAG and he's wanted one forever. After having such a great time with our beautiful flock of baby budgies we began searching every nook and cranny for information on them. We are more than excited (!!) to be in the two week wait for our baby to come home! They haven't had DNA run yet but will be within the next week.
We are just ecstatic. All I dream about is birds in anticipation...
When I got the budgies, I joined a budgie forum and was met with great opposition and disrespect. They treated me like I knew nothing just from my introduction like I'm doing here. I never went back..
I found this forum and you guys are great. I've learned a lot and greatly enjoy hearing all of your experiences. I makes me look forward to our future with our CAG baby just that much more.
I appreciate all of your knowledge in advance and look forward to getting to know members of this forum through participation.
Cheers!
