There is a new three part wildlife series starting on BBC1 on 1st February. Cameras were attached to all sorts of creatures - a meerkat, a cheetah, a chimpanzee, a penquin, a bear, a baboon, even a manta ray, to allow us see much more than we normally could.

It has been brilliant. Viewers have had an animals eye view. Some of the animals such as three young cheetahs, the chimpanzee and the meerkats were already used to humans because they had either been adopted as babies or were subject to studies, (but still living in the wild) so the cameras could easily be attached. Others such as the brown bear had to be sedated. With the ray they swam down and attached it. The attachment had a special fastening which dissolved in the sea water after a period of time allowing the camera to be released and float back up.
