Recently we put down a rug in the bathroom closest to Ash's room that is sort of shaggy I guess you could say. Ash is obsessed with pulling it apart. In the space of a week has created several 'bald spots' already. So far I've been letting her destroy the rug because she isn't destroying anything else. But I don't know if this is a behavior I should put a stop to. I've never been able to get her attention away from what she shouldn't have to what she can have. Give her an old remote to destroy, she'll throw it aside and go after the remote we use. Give her a magazine to shred, she'll walk away from it and go for the one she saw me reading.

Might be best to stop her.
I think they prefer the things we have got rather than the ones they are given because they know if we have something it must be better than the item they have been allowed to have. I once got some imitation pencil parrot toys for Mitzi to stop her trying to get my pens and pencils but she wasn't taken in and she dropped it almost as soon as I gave her one. (As in "This is no good, it isn't one of your real pencils!)

I don't trust anything made this day and age, could have weird chemicals or glues in the manufacturing process. Sheeba won't go after anything, except to throw it. But she is really into boxes, go inside and chew her way out. Then throw it on the floor and climb down and finish it off. I tried expensive parrot toys, either she is terrified of it, or ignores it. She says it's boxes or nothing! She did get interested in those paper rolls to unravel(all at once), but now not so much.
