Every night I spot clean Chy's cage but then comes the big clean. I take out all the toys and perches to scrub them and climb in the cage to thoroughly clean everywhere. This time I replaced a soft perch with a new one. Everything was put back in the original places.
Since I did the big cage clean this morning, I had to physically put her in the cage so that I could clean the house. Chyloe has been huddled at the bottom of the cage afraid of those parrot-eating perches and toys above her. We have both tried to lure her up to a perch by offering her favourite treats but no deal. It is like this every time I do a big clean.
If she acts true to form, she will wait until I cover her tonight then she will climb up onto the new soft perch to sleep. It is not scary in the dark.

They are so fussy. I remember Mitzi once refusing to go on a new perch for a while. She would hang upside down on the bars to reach her food dish rather than go on the perch.

When I put the guard up on Beaker's boing (to keep him from chewing on my TV) he refused to get on the boing for months!

She is back to normal now.

Once Manzi ate upside down for two whole weeks before he finally decided the perch would not eat him alive!!
That's great that Chy is back to normal so quickly. The battles they pick and choose!!
