Hi again all! I had a quick question about my recently acquired, re-homed grey (can see details here africangreyparrot.info/thread/8141/new-re-homed-grey ). We got her about a week ago, and she's taken to her new home very well. Had some early on concerns about her eating, but she's started doing that more as well. One thing she has been doing since the third day or so is a lot of looking around in her cage, as if searching for a way out - and tentatively moving her wings as if about to take flight. I've been told this can be because she feels stressed, so I tried removing all the toys in her cage and adding them back one at a time to be sure it's none of them, as well as making sure she has a place to hide in the cage. It didn't help, but the thing is she is still crazy talkative when she's doing this, and I Was told by her previous owner that she doesn't talk nearly as much when she's stressed or scared. And she still lets me scratch her neck and hold her when she's like this (and in fact gets better when I do). Both her previous owner's and my theory is that she wants attention and to be out of the cage for a bit, but I figured I'd get some second opinions before I just assume she's okay.

Welcome.
Doesn't sound stressed to me.
Stressed is when they yank feathers or stop eating or go destructive (sometimes).
I think she is "feeling her oats" and exploring every corner of her world and more then once.
By the way, if there is an escape route, they will find it.

Have you considered allowing her to come out of her cage and roam around or even just sit on the top of her cage? That would make her happier.

The only time Beaker's in his cage is when he wants to be or no one is around or it is bedtime.
Other then that he is free to walk about (he is clipped).

I'm trying to minimize the change in her routine for the time being, and she's never had her wings clipped. She's also in the same room as a cat and the door that people fairly regularly exit or leave, so leaving her out constantly isn't much of an option. That, and I don't want her to be in the habit of being out constantly anyways, in case something happens in the future that makes keeping her inside mostly becomes a necessity. I'm letting her out with me while I make her dinner in the evenings though, as well as for a couple hours afterwards, and she seems to be enjoying it immensely.
