My friend lives in China where apparently they have very limited access to true avian vets. She has a Congo but is trying to help her friend. She sent me the following picture: farm5.staticflickr.com/4473/37161513833_bb51475243_m.jpgShe says the bird is young and had a scar on the beak. The scar fell off and left this hole. I trust you all's experience and judgment - would GREATLY appreciate any thoughts! Thanks! Chris Attachments:

It doesn't look too severe, it may grow back. The problem is once the new layer starts to cover the hole, it may come off if the bird is chewing or playing. Calcium supplements would be an absolute necessity. www.beautyofbirds.com/brokenbeaks.htmlI once had a Toucan(mistake). It had a piece of it's beak break off, but it started to grow back, it's a long process. Thomas

Thanks so much for the reply Thomas - really appreciate it. I will pass the information along, especially the calcium supplements. I'm not convinced this bird is getting the best nutrition ...
All the best,
Chris
