Mitzi has taken to deliberately dropping food, even treats she really likes, in the hope of getting more. She will drop the item then chirrup for more, so I point out to her where it is and tell her she isn't getting another one. In the end she gives in, retrieves the item and eats it.

That's pretty funny.
If mine drop items, they can't retrieve them because the grate is too far above the tray. I have sometimes put newspaper on the grate so it catches the items cause I know that Manzi will go back down for something he dropped.

Beaker will take the heavy ceramic bowls and "drop" them on the cage grate which causes a banging sound.
I equate it to the old prison movies where they drag a tin cup across the bars.
I like that more then yelling!

The past two days, Chy has been scooping her food out of the dish. She has never done that before and doesn't go down to eat it.

The design of the cage means that Mitzi can reach the tray through the grid. I wish she couldn't because if I put newspaper in the tray to make cleaning easier she will just pull it up. Usually any treats she drops just stay on the grid though.
