Good to hear you are doing better, Jane. I am not very good at dealing with illness. I was in the hospital about 15 years ago for 5 days after surgery, then in bed at home for a month. Out of work for 6 weeks.
Take care,
Thomas

Thanks everyone. I did tell the medics that I had parrots for 26 years and not had any problems before, and for that reason they didn't think it is bird related but I have got some face masks to wear when I am cleaning them out just in case. I might get a second air purifier too.

Jane, that must have been terrible to have been in the hospital so long. I hope you're feeling better soon!

I am better than I was but I think it takes time to completely recover. Family and friends have been helping me with shopping etc. and I have a follow up appointment at the hospital late September.

I am going for my follow up appointment at the hospital on Wednesday afternoon. I have quite a few questions I want to ask when I am there.

Just so you all know, I am not well. It started at the end of July with a croaky voice followed by a cough. I just thought it was a virus. The coughing got worse and then I started getting pain in my chest. I had an x ray and blood tests yesterday and they think it could be pleurisy or a blood clot. Jane Sorry to hear that you're not well, Jane. Hope you feel better soon.

I have been for my appointment. I had to have a breathing test and I have to go for a more detailed breathing test, I will be sent the appointment for that. I had to have another x ray.
More worrying is that one of the blood tests I had the day I was discharged showed positive for bird antigens.

Oh no, not the news we wanted to hear. So what will be next now?

Is it possible that you were susceptible to the birds because you were ill and that you would not normally have an allergic reaction to them?
I'm hoping for the best for you.

I don't know. The consultant said the positive result could just be incidental because I have been in contact with birds but I suppose I will know more after I have had the next set of tests.

That isn't great news. Hopefully everything will be alright. We got two air purifiers several years ago and love them. They are kinda loud, but we are used to the noise now. I don't notice how loud they are until I turn them off to clean them out. They are the round honeywell hepa ones.
Hopefully it isn't allergies to the birds and if it is, then hopefully it is manageable. Sending positive vibes!!

I had pulmonary function tests on 31st October and a follow up appointment today. The test results were "peculiar" and I have to have another pulmonary function test and another CT scan. My lungs are not right but they don't know what is causing it.
