Every morning when I uncover them and remove the food and water bowls to replenish them, Monty insists on going down to the floor of the cage and then coming back up through the water bowl hoop. Because he has always had trouble with his feet this can take him a while and he is usually half way through the water bowl hoop just as I come back with the fresh water and want to put the bowl back.

On Chy's cage, the food and water hoops are attached to the doors so they swing out for bowl removal. When I swing them out, Chy comes out of the cage via the food or water door. Crazy bird.

Mine don't come out at breakfast time, they just go on their food perches as soon as I uncover them and wait for service.

Sheeba is the same, just sits and waits by the food dish when I get up in the morning. If I take too long she will say "well"? When I put the fresh food in, she says "there we go".

I had to spring load the food doors to keep Beaker from using them as private entry ways after he figured out he could open them.

That's funny. Monty has his routine and you have to wait till he's done. My birds have the doors like Haz described and they always climb on the food dish while I'm about to open the door, so then I open it partway, waiting for them to get off so their feet don't get pinched. It would be nice if they waited off to the side on their perch while I'm changing out their dishes.

He also has to click his beak several times before he takes treats from me.

He also has to click his beak several times before he takes treats from me. Jane Beaker and I have clicking contests. I click my fingernails and he replies. I tell him he can do it so much better then I can and louder!

It is interesting about beak clicking. Monty does it a lot but Mitzi has never done it.

I don't understand these birds obsession with going through the hoops. Ash will do the same thing. There are also some chairs we have that have a gap in the back and she insists on squeezing herself through, I always fear I'm going to have to call the fire department to come unstick my bird.

Chy used to try to squeeze between the bars of the baby gate until she learned to climb up and over it.
