It was love at first sight when I saw Red (somehow the breeder put this in my head that the bird has a red mutation, so the name...) This is the first CAG to waltz into my life... (used to IRNs & Budgies) She (i think) is super friendly... wanna jump onto anyone's shoulder (if allowed even the head)... the last place she wants to be is the cage top. She does make some noise; not totally quiet. Preening, cleaning all happening. Still not a fan of water/ showers et al. I have some work cut out for me though. Bad Diet - the breeder has been feeding her sunflower seeds, corn and some apples. I need to change this and I hear that CAGs are adamant and very difficult to change. As of now she hasn't touched any warm veggies, fruits Ruffled/ Dirty Tail Feathers - not sure where the breeder kept her. The feathers look like she just got out of bed guess will change after the diet-change & molt. I need some tips, advice, ideas, old threads... whatever you can send my way Thank you

Hello and welcome to the forum.
I would be careful of having her on shoulders because Greys can lunge for faces and bite hard, even in fun.
Yes, Greys can be very fussy about what they eat. Changes need to be gradual. With veggies they are often more receptive if you are eating at the same time and if you give them some from your plate.
Similarly, some Greys hate being showered or sprayed. I use a small fine sprayer that fits in the palm of my hand. You could also try a heavy dog bowl of water on the floor of the cage and see if she shows any interest in it as sometimes they will try to bathe in their drinking water bowl.

Welcome to the forum,
Keep trying new fruits and vegetables until you find some that she will eat. Try to get her to eat pellets which are nutritionally balanced and therefore best for her health.
Regarding her dirty tail feathers, you reminded me of my first baby grey. I kept trying to wash his "dirty" tail feathers with no luck getting them clean. I had to laugh when I found out that baby CAGs have grey on the end of their red tail feathers. When those feathers molt, the new feathers are all red.
There is lots of information on this forum. You will find posts to be very interesting.
We are always available if you have any questions.

Jane Hi Jane, Thank you... This is her first few days with me so letting her have her way just not to upset her. I'll change this habit from this weekend. oh... man... they are super fussy I'm doing gradual changes. Carrots, pumpkins & Beets have been accepted as food by her. But that also depends on her mood as this afternoon she threw everything out I haven't tried the shower/ spray thing yet. Let me check this tomorrow to see if she likes it. Dog Bowl idea is nice... Let me check what works with her. I'll keep posting progress Cheers...

Food and Health and Behavioural threads are a good start. However, not all birds have behavioural problems so those threads will only give you an idea of what could happen. For example, my Chyloe only misbehaves by making up her own curses and shouting them at me when she is upset.
