I have put this in off topic because it is about an odd problem with equipment rather than anything to do with parrots.
Mine have had a Kings Cage since 2000. There are four stainless steel bowls which fit into hoops on swing doors. Recently the bowls have started becoming quite stiff to get in and out of the hoops to the extent that one time I was trying to remove a bowl the whole swing door came off the hinges. I have always washed the bowls in the dishwasher and I am wondering if something has happened to distort the bowls in some way, although I can't think how because they are very sturdy stainless steel. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas.
P.S. You can see one of the bowls in the hoop on my avatar. Jane

The stainless bowls Kings offered as replacements (the plastic ones suck) have an indent to help lock them into the ring.
Depending on where the bowl is rotated makes it somewhat easy or difficult to lock in the ring.
I gave up using these and spring loaded the doors (Beaker destroyed the plastic locks).
I give Beaker food and water in heavy ceramic bowls ands I put them in the middle of his cage so when he throws food it doesn't go outside the cage.

These bowls are just plain. To put them in you push them down into the hoop and to get them out push them up.
Yesterday I got a replacement bowl (not Kings) which fits into the hoop and is easier to get in and out so it must be very slightly smaller than the Kings ones. When I was testing it to make sure it was okay and wouldn't slip out of the hoop, I put it in, pushed it around and removed it several times. Mitzi was watching this and decided that she had to be wary of this new bowl, despite it being a plain stainless steel bowl like the Kings ones.

You can tell Mizi it is one of the types of bowls that attacks parrots who don't finish their greens.
You know I have a parrot eating wicker laundry basket?

They are so funny aren't they, the items they get frightened of.
Mitzi is still a bit wary of the new bowl and but she has now discovered that she can lift it out of the hoop a little way and make it rattle.

Well I ordered two more of the bowls thinking they would be okay and I was going to collect them tomorrow but Mitzi has just discovered that she can lift the bowl out of the hoop and tip it up. She actually looks at me while she is doing it.
