Welcome to the world of greys. We have all received a bite or two at one time or another. Our greys train us well. One time I was on the phone and Chyloe came up to me and tried to bite my computer power cord. I leaned down with the phone in my hand to stop her and CHOMP! She taught me not to stop her biting a cord while holding the phone. Fortunately, Chy rarely bites. When she was very young and didn't want to be touched, she would say, "Ouch" meaning if you insisted in touching her, you would say ouch. These days, she tells you to move.
Once you learn Big Daddy's body language or he tells you verbally, you should avoid being bitten.
Feel free to ask any questions that arise.

Hi Donna
Welcome to the forum.
As Haz remarked those of us that owned birds for quite awhile has the scars to prove it, lol.
I've owned a combination of Indian Ringnecks, Sun Conures and now a 18 month old disabled Grey female and I can't think of a single one that hasn't made me bleed at some point.
My advice is to watch for subtle clues like ''pinning'' of the eyes or fluffing up of the feathers (especially around the head) to warn you of a potential bite...or simply a ''do not approach me right now'' mood. Once you get to know the birds it will only take you a second or two to evaluate his behavior/mood within a few seconds and that will significantly cut down on expenses for plasters etc.
Keep us up to date.
Wessel
