I put big dishes of water out for the wild birds. They drink it and also bathe in it. Sometimes they even line up to take their turn. The little birds such as Robins and Blackbirds have baths which involve a lot of splashing about and ruffling of feathers but the bigger birds such as the Wood Pigeons and Collared Doves will often just plonk themselves in it and sit there for a while.

I have a big bird bath near one of the feeders. I love to watch the birds eat then go to the bird bath to drink then splash around. The big birds do just as much splashing as the little ones. Sometimes a big bird will jump in causing the little ones to leave.
