Hello everyone
My name is agnes
I have always wanted an african grey but time was never right for me as i was working but recently had to give work up due to my health So made a decision to start reading all i could about them and know they need time and commitment which i can now give. So did some research and found my baby. Who was hatched on 1/12/15. Ironically my granddaughters birthday (1/12 ). I have named him Jazz. I love him to bits already He makes me laugh. At his antics and is already saying a few words When i got him home at first he was lunging at me and growling. I let him settle. I would say to him its okay. Its okay you will be fine. Now he says its okay And woof woof. At first i thought i was hearing things. But my son heard him too. Sorry for long post but i am so excited at this new experience and venture with him Look forward to all the advice i can get from you all. Thanks in advance

Welcome!
Sorry to hear about your health problem(s).
AG's are very dusty, so I hope that doesn't contribute.

Welcome to the forum.
We all know how easy it is to love these balls of grey feathers. Chyloe is our baby. She calls us Mommy and Daddy and we treat her like a child.
If you have any questions, we are here.
Looking forward to hearing your stories.

Hi Jazz
Good luck with the new baby.
My one year old CAG called Banana was an early imitator too (already picked up a few words before the age of 4 months while still with the breeder). She picked up the sound of the dogs barking pretty soon and so accurately that on occasion when she starts "barking" it sends the 3 real dogs into a barking frenzy and a frantic hunt for the intruder.
Somehow during her time in the nest her right foot got deformed permanently but despite (or because of) her "disability" she has the biggest personality of any bird I've ever seen. She definitely makes sure you know how she wants things done..it's simply her way or no way.
But enough about us. As Haz said:keep us up to date on all her adventures.
Regards, Wessel

Beakertrout
You mentioned that CAG's very dusty. Have their feather-dust been linked to causing allergies and sinus-problems? I have 7 birds in total (6 Indian Ringnecks outside and 1 CAG in the house) and while I have occasional sinus-problems I'm not convinced it's due to the birds.
