Every morning I put food out for the wild birds. It is interesting to watch them. The biggest birds are the Wood Pigeons but they are the least confrontational. They just stand there completely motionless if other birds arrive to eat. The Crows and Magpies on the other hand squabble with each other and fight over the food. The little birds such as Robins and Blackbirds just get in when they can.

We don't get many big birds at the feeders. The small birds knock food down to the ground where the doves eat it. Our Robins are a different bird than those in England. Ours are bigger, summer birds, that eat worms. The squirrels always raid the bird feeders. We can get squirrel-proof feeders but I love all critters and don't begrudge the squirrels feeding. It just means filling the feeders more often.
Of course, at the moment, our area is totally covered in snow so we see very few birds. Occasionally someone takes a photo of a snowy owl. They are hard to spot against all the white snow.

I have two hummingbird feeders in my [tiny] backyard. It's an aerial display of dog fighting that would make any fighter pilot jealous. There seems to be one bird that has claimed an entire feeder for himself and spends his days eating and defending his honey hole. While the other feeder is more or less shared but not without high pitched squabbles and the buzzing of wings flapping a few hundred times a second.

I've never seen hummingbirds fight! We have a fountain just outside our place and there is a hummingbird which comes daily for a bath.

I put water in shallow dishes (the big plant pot saucers) and they love bathing. There was a female Blackbird the other morning thoroughly enjoying her bath, with water splashing everywhere. Every now and then she stopped to have a scratch!. it was funny to watch.
