I read an article about how they can now use fingerprint powder on feathers and eggs to help catch people who kill rare birds of prey or steal their eggs. Historically, fingerprint powder is used to detect finger prints but it doesn't work on all surfaces, such as human and animal skin. There are now two new powders effective on feathers and one on eggs.

I'm not sure how that would work if someone shoots a rare bird or steals the eggs. Of course, the culprits could use rubber gloves while stealing eggs.
Why would anyone want to kill the birds or steal the eggs? Do they sell them?
