Thanx guys, can't wait to bring him to his forever home I'm all prepared cage is ready toys are ready, got his vitamins in, all that's missing is him, the only thing I'm worried about is him not settling or starting to pluck his feathers if he's not happy, I will do everything in my power to help him settle in and get used to his new surroundings, I just hopes he learns to love me as much as I already love him x

Hello and welcome to the forum. They are all different, some settle in more quickly than others but just go at his pace, talk to him as much as possible and don't introduce too many new things at once.

Hi Ally
Welcome to the forum.
I'm a novice CAG owner to although I've had Indian Ringnecks for the past decade more or less. As a previous poster mentioned the key is working at the bird's pace and not to introduce too many "scary" new things at once. All birds are different and you'll notice that some days you can work with him and train with him for quite awhile while on other days his attention seems to wander after only a few minutes - if that's the case stop trying to train him for awhile till it seems he is ready to interact again.
As far as talking is concerned I noticed with my bird that she'll sit and listen quietly while I talk (even if it's the biggest junk imaginable). She is still learning to talk but she's at a point where she would contribute to the "discussion" even if I'm in another room. Depending on your bird's predisposition to imitate/talk you might have a bird that start repeating words, phrases and sounds in a matter of months. I got mine when she was 4-5 months old in October and she already uses certain words.
Kind regards, Wessel
