I am new to this site, and soon to be a new CAG owner. I rescued a Senagal Parrot from a friend a few years back, and caught the bird bug. I have always wanted a Grey and finally get to make it happen. Our new little guy is only 8 weeks old, but we think he will be ready to bring home around Christmas time.
We are in the process of getting the new cage and getting it all set up. Ill take any advice on what to put in the new cage or any new bird advice all together.
I look forward to learning from all of you

What an exciting Christmas you are going to have.
I see that you don't need to worry about bringing him home in winter weather. That is the first thing we in the Great White North think about.
A variety of perches would be nice. Most big cages come with just one big wooden perch. In Chyloe's cage, in addition to the original wooden perch, she has two nail trimming perches and two soft braided perches. She sleeps on one of the soft perches.
Lots of toys of various kinds which can be destroyed. Paper towel rolls are popular (the inner cardboard core).
You don't mention if you are able to visit and bond with the baby before bringing him home. If he doesn't know you, you will need to take things very slowly. Let him set the pace.
We are here if you have any questions or concerns.

hey Mark Welcome. Can't wait to hear all your stories. The only dumb question is the one that is not asked, so please, ask away. Lenke
