Hi Grant How are things going with your new friend? I've been thinking about you and how fate placed this new little love right in front of you to find.

Hi everyone. I have continuously driven to Massachusetts to see my new baby Grey. Her name is Sasha. It's been well over 30 trips so far. She has really grown. There have been so many wonderful times with her. From seeing her test her legs and walking, perching for the first time, tail feathers budding and growing in, talking with words, flying strong, landing confidently, to going outside for the first time. Throughout all of these milestones we have become bonded and close. She has captured my heart deeply. When I now arrive at the parrot place she'll see me and run immediately over to me and I give her the biggest kiss and hug.
It is another three weeks before she will be ready to come home.
I still have moments of shock that Shayla is not here anymore, it is going to take time.
About a month ago I decided to get a little baby Green Cheek parrot who loves big birds and was also new to the parrot place, named Alexa. Sasha and I spent time over several days with three other baby Green Cheek parrots, each one separately. They had a rather indifferent interaction with us. Then a new baby Green Cheek comes running nonstop over to Sasha, burrows underneath her, peeks her head out below Sasha's head and begins preening Sasha and cleaning around her eyes. I knew I had to get her. It was at that moment that I realized I was part of a brand new flock. I Love them both so much. Several weeks ago, while I wasn't there, Alexa got bitten in the eye by another bird. I was devastated, I felt so bad for her. She is now blind in one eye but her personality is the same and she is still as confident as ever.
On Tuesday, the parrot place had a pumpkin carving (destroying) party. Families and their parrots opened up the top of pumpkins to enable parrots to dig in and chew. And dig in they did! There was orange stuff absolutely flying everywhere! They also had apple cider for the birds and that went everywhere too. The room was totally covered with orange mush, seeds and juice! Sasha had orange caked all over her beak. It was so much fun and we all where laughing at how much fun the birds were having. I can't really put into words on how grateful I am that Sasha is in my life. She means the entire world to me. She has grown so much and I have too.

She is such a pretty girl Grant. Reminds me of Piccolo when she was young. So sorry to hear that your little Alexa got injured and lost her eye :-( Im sure you cant wait to bring them home. Very happy for you.

Thanks for the update. It is sad that Alexa was injured. I know you will still love her just as much as before. That pumpkin party sounds like it was hilarious.
Time seems to slow down when we are waiting for an exciting event. Those three weeks will pass and you'll have your two babies home.

Grant I'm so happy for you! She is beautiful and it sounds like you will be wonderful companions. It is ridiculous how upset I feel when I think about Shayla considering I have never met her. I am so happy for you.

They are too cute! And that green cheek looks like the cinnamon derivative of the green cheek conure family. So my Green Thing & your Alexa are of the same genus, I think
