I am in Australia on vacation. I just arrived yesterday. We went for a walk in a nearby park yesterday evening and a pair of sulphur crested cockatoos came flying in and played on a nearby tree for about an hour. They were loud and very playful (too bad I didn't have my camera). It was really cute. I will go out again this evening and try taking some photos.
There are also lots of lorikeets. All over playing around, eating flowers, chirping away.

That must have been wonderful to see. They are such beautiful birds. I think it is their natural playfulness that makes them so demanding to have as companion birds.

We have relatives in Australia. They have cockatoos playing in their backyard. It is so far away from here so we have never visited them.

Sounds great, my parents love Australia and have been a few times. My mother was in awe of all the cockatoos flying free the first time they went. She compared them to pigeons in New York City, because they were hanging around an outdoor cafe and grabbing scraps from people.

I've seen lots of sulphur crested cockatoos, but they have been elusive when I've had my camera and been close. I have some videos of goffin cockatoos, lorikeets and pictures of rosebrested cockatoos.
In general, it is very beautiful here. I love seeing all the birds flying around. We saw some wild kangaroos while on a hike yesterday.
