I wonder what kind of vaccine the vet gave your Grey. I know others who have had their Grey die after being given a vaccine. I would avoid vaccinations as they are quite underdeveloped for African Grey parrots. Not a lot of research has gone into them for our specific species of parrot.
I'm sorry about your loss.

That is why i'm feeling guilty somehow but there is something else my grey is too thin and the avian vet told me that seeds make greys fat so this is unusual and might be liver cirrhosis because of the lack of healthy food i'm not sure what caused all that and the diarrhea and the weird things he got out of his beak.. I wish i could know the real reason so that i can feel better we already burried him..

Do you know about his previous home and lifestyle before he joined you two months ago? Was he always treated well and kept in a safe healthy environment? Hang in there, somewhere out there another grey is really needing a loving home and will appreciate all the experience that you had with Koukou.

Not really Grant i had no clue i've been told he came right away from africa but i guess that is a big fat lie because in the forests they can treat themselves and they'd be used to eating fruits and veggies.. Thanks for the support thank god my fiance is helping me, i can't wait to have my second grey

Guyss i'm so happy i just got my new grey Maxii,he is 8 months old and his feather is still a bit brown this is normal for a young grey right? And i wanted to take your advices since you are more experienced, i was wondering the man at the shop told me to keep him in a corner for 2 days and not talk to him so he can feel he is safe, he growls alot by the way and on everyone, he also told me to not feed him fruits and veggies now just the dried fruits he gave me and not to let him out of his cage until he starts to talk, he said if he gets everything he wants from me he won't do what i want from him.. What do you think? Any advices? And how to make him more comfortable and used to me ? Thanks alot

Congratulations on your new grey. However, I have never heard so much nonsense such as the man at the shop told you.
I have also never heard of an African Grey with brown feathers! A baby grey will have dark grey on the end of the red tail feathers but no brown on the body. They sometimes have a few red feathers amongst the grey.
You should not put him in a corner and ignore him. Instead, sit near his cage and talk softly to him. Do feed him fresh fruit and vegetables. Let him come out of the cage when he is ready. He may not start talking for a long time. You can't leave him stuck in a cage until he talks.
He will not need vaccinations. If you have an avian vet available, you could take him for a checkup. Some people never take their birds to the vet unless they are sick.
Keep us posted on your progress with Maxii.

Hey Haz thank you so much , yeah that is what i thought, hmm i dont know how to describe him for you he is grey and yes he has dark grey on his tail and his feather are all grey except for little ones that are kind of brown or maybe that is dark red iam not sure he said his feather are goingto grow later and become light grey now he is dark a bit his wings especially darker than the one i had i guessed because koukou was older than maxi... I will take him to a check up soon.. He is not growling now i sat infront of him but under his eye level maybe that is why he feels safe, so i guess iam going to take your advice and keep him company until he gets totally familiar with me.. Should i keep on trying to feed him from my hand , the first time he growled.. Thank you so much X

Just talk to him to start with without trying to touch him, he is still getting used to his new surroundings and you. It is best to go at their pace. I don't know why the man at the shop told you not to feed him fresh veg and fruit, he should be eating more than just dried fruit, which shouldn't form much of his diet anyway.

Try eating while you offer him food. Hector growled at me for the first few weeks, but when I sat in front of the cage eating my breakfast or dinner and held out a piece of food for him to try he couldn't resist taking it.

Oh well if you want to know how to touch him you'll have to wait for someone else. We haven't gotten that far yet! lol

I wouldn't try to touch him yet, especially as he is growling when you go near. He needs time so take it at his pace and just talk to him and offer him food so you gain his trust and he knows you are not a threat. Even very tame Greys can be fussy about who can touch them, and where and when.
