just brought eric home we settled his cage in the lounge and i went into the kitchen to get him some greens and a couple of grapes. i offered eric one in my hand which he took and dropped imediately. whilst I was in the kitchen he said hullo to my wife June several times but only when I left the room. I thought I would try him with some music so i put it on and I bobbed up and down to the beat Eric wached for a moment the copied me dancing for a few seconds . I think this is brilliant for his first couple of hours. The poor soul was in a smokers house bless him and his cage reeks of smoke bless him. Regards to all June Nigel Eric Molly ( teil) and Joey ( lovebird)

Continued with Eric again today much more relaxed. My tiel and lovebird were out of their cage . Eric was fascinated and watched them closely, Molly my teil is hand tame and with her on my hand we stood talking to him for a while. He was not overly aggressive when they perched on his cage . This afternoon after the others were back in their cage I opened Eric's door and gave him a few treats and clicker training. He seems to know the click means a treat and allowed me to get quite close. When I approached with an empty hand he bit me very gently as a warning I was to close so I backed off. Little steps and good progress

Left big Eric's door open today, He climbed out and round the cage then went back in all of his own volition. Another milestone for him though he is scared of the touch stick yet . He is showing which food he Prefers today was raw green bean,Brussels sprout s didn't like tomato's loves dried fruit but not cranberries

He still has only come out of his cage once so I must try to be patient. Fireworks going off tonight so yes talking to them every time there's a bang,. At lest he isn't nervous or upset

During 4th of july celebrations, I put music on for Jezzie (semi loud) and she doesn't seem bothered by them. Her 1st year of hearing them was not fun for her. Hopefully they won't bother him too much.

Another milestone I am so happy was talking to Eric through the open cage door, he won't eat complete food so I smothered some in peanut butter, he liked them ! We continued cahatting and I kept my hand just inside his cage so he could get used to it. He came forward and rubbed his been on my finger so I responded gently touching his head . He made little squeeking noises and allowed me to stroke him a little on his head and chest . My wife got a stroke too. We are overjoyed at this progress in only a week I am jumping for joy . June Nigel Big Eric Molly (teil) joey ( lovebird )
