This i hope may be of use to all that visit this site We haves large an african grey 5 years old , recently due to an accident in her cage she lost 7 flight feathers over a period of two wweeks we took her to our local avian vet who glued the Feathers back ( a bit more complicated then i have made it sound) Anyway Pipa has pulled them all out again ( it cost us £177.00 for the privilege) anyway we took her back to the vet and the vet is going to operate on her next week to remove the remainder of the feathers ( Stumps) so she will in time grow her flight feathers in time that is the thing is we love her to much and just want to see her back to her normal self.

p.s she damaged them by being chased around the cage by our other african grey Chico

Why is the vet going to pull out the feathers stumps? They should fall out on their own eventually. It seems a severe to pull out the old ones when even being under anesthesia can be life threatening.
