Sometimes I find Tropican at Petco but they are out there on websites too. I like birdalog.com and free SH if you buy $50.00. Auggie likes nutrimeals but won't eat avicakes. DJ, another here on the board, LOVES avicakes. And I think Loyce or Shirl puts the pellets in the birdie bread.

Just got home with 3 different samples of pellets from my work(brought home exact chunky, zupreem original pellets and more roudybush)...I tried exact raindow chunky in warm water and he gobbled them up rather well. then i mixed some zupreem originals in his bean cuisine. Now the question is...will he eat the dry ones on his own? or will or i have to soak them in a bit of water everyday? i was surprised to see him eat the pellets like that. He is a sucker for a warm meal i guess.

That's good. Maybe now he has got the taste for them he will eat them dry, or you could try gradually reducing the amount of water. Forgot to say that the Tropican Lifetime Granules are made by Hagen.

Well, I have a spoiled baby here. He will eat the dry pellets when the tiels are eating them and he thinks he is missing out. Otherwise, I soak them for his lunch. When I leave them dry in his dish in the cage, they're still there....... but I keep trying

oh we had a major break thorugh here last night! for his late late dinner last night while i was sitting on the computer i gave him some roudybush, exact chunky, and a few nutriberries and pine nuts in a dish. He of course ate the pine nuts first but i actually witnessed him eating ALL of the exact pellets he had in his dish! (with the exception of throwing the orange carrot sized one over for the dogs) I sat there with my jaw to the floor! it was that easy? just having him taste them with warm water? i praised him with good words all the while he was eating them he looked at me like i was a freak haha but i didnt care he was actually eating pellets and not throwing them all out like he does. Im amazed...truly. i just hope he keeps this up now.

glad to hear you got her to start trying regular pellets. If she starts getting stubborn again you could also use fruit juice in place of water. Also for the next few days continue offering several different kinds of pellets until you notice that she is clearly favoring one type. Sometimes during the transition process they will start by eating one brand of pellet but end up preferring a different brand as their permanent food.

Wow, what a great thread to read. So much interaction. Hope she continues to eat the pellets. They do surprise us when we least expect it, I guess we should expect to be surprised.

I give Chyloe a sprinkling of crushed cooked eggshells every morning in her breakfast vegetables.
