Well, today Kasey had her first injury. She dicided to jump off her cage and she just happened to hit the base board heater that is in her room. She cut her belly doing so. Needless to say, Mommy had a heart attack! But Kasey only ended up with two stitches and a sleepy outlook on the rest of the day. She is restricted to only playing in her cage and on the floor(with the supervision of Mom) for the next ten days! ;D I think I will most likely have my hands full for the next two weeks! Ashley

Good afternoon all , Well you probably all know who I am via my introduction and also my story of how I rescued Joey and some others from a floating tree in the Gulf of Guinea, well yesterday I took joey to the Vets for a check up and the vet recommended that he gives joey an injection just to clear up any internal parasites that he may have brought from the wild, well I agreed and all went well joey behaved himself really great and we also clipped his wings and I brought him home, I put him in his cage where he took a little food coconut and a little bit of boiled rice and he then as normal started to settle down for the night as you all know they go quiet and start dozing off, I then put his blanket over the cage and also went to bed but this morning before I got up I gave my normal whistle to joey downstairs and he did'nt answer with his usual chuckle and for some reason I knew to fear the worst I dont know why but I just knew, it was true there he was laid at the bottom of his cage in a most undignified way during the night he died , I dont know why as it was not cold and he had eaten but I did notice that beside him there was some fresh droppings completely white in colour almost like semolina which was not normal for joey. Why he died will remain a mistery and in our house he has left a considerable gap of sadness in the short time he was with us, especially with me as I was his adopted father in his eyes. life goes on, Peter...

Peter I am so sorry to hear this, after reading about how you rescued Joey and seeing his photo. This is so sad but you did your best for him and I can understand how it must have left such an emptiness. Thinking of you, and thank you so much for sharing all this with us.

Thanks a lot for the kind words, they are well apreciated I cant help thinking that I shoul'dt have gone to the vets, but anyway its too late now, but I must admit before I ever came across an AFRICAN GREY I never knew what I was missing as they certainly are highly intelligent and really loveable companions, I will keep in touch and be back soon because I will be getting another to give a good home too, cheers everyone. Pete...

Oh Peter, I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Take care, it doesn't take long to bond with a Grey so I really feel with you...

Peter, I'm sorry to hear of your loss. He was such a striking bird. I did mentuon that I didn't think a vet visit was needed, but that water under the bridge. Do you want me to take the avitar down? Can I have permission to put Joey on our RIP page?

glad you loss hasnt put you off adopting another grey, you can never replace lost ones as they are all so unique but some birdie out there needs you just as much as joey did, you made his time that he had left a lot fuller and happier than he would of had stuck on a log were you found him. hope you find your next baby soon

Thanks all, The kind words you all sent are well apreciated, Yes Preston I should have taken your advice and not gone to the vets cos I'm sure thats where the problem came from. Preston I would be honoured if you place joey in the RIP section that way he's still around, I am most definitly going to get another CAG without a doubt as I've had cockatiels, amazons, Canaries, but nothing to match a CAGs devotion, intelligence, and looks. cheers everyone, Peter..

Hi Peter, I didn't mean that as "I told you so", but can't help blame it on the vet. I keep this page for "us", the members of Dandy's. I am proud to put Joey there, as we all know the attachment to our birds. I'd like you to write an epitah I can place there. If not, allow me. Can you find one of the other rescues to adopt? You seem to be the type that deserves to own a Grey. I have it up, click on the web addy on my signature.
