Hi! The first three books we purchased, all by "Barron's" were "African Grey Parrots", "The African Grey Parrot Handbook" and Guide To A Well Behaved Parrot. I've read through these many times and highlighted different points. Found them to be extremely useful!!! ;D

Thank you very much Tammy....will try to get hold of these books and thanks for the feedback . This is what makes a great site, even though I live in Gloucestershire in the U.K. I can still get the info I require from people on this forum...thanks to everyone.

For the life of me I could never pronounce that city; let alone spell it the same way twice in a row. ;D But, since everywhere I go, I'm told I talk funny. The ole Texas draw; still alive and well P

Preston It is pronounced GLOSTER and GLOSTERSHIRE. Another odd one is Worcester which is pronounced WUSTER. Jane

You are dead right with the saying of Gloster and Worcster is just about 20 mins away..My little one has been with us for just two days now and wonder how he is doing...perhaps you could tell me what you think and if I am doing things properly.Last night at 7-45 he started eating peanuts from the shell and as he was doing this I was telling him he was a clever boy and he kept climbing down to get some more.Every time I get near to him he squawks louder as I get nearer so I back off a little...is this proper? Is it to early to try to put hand out for him to feed? He seems quite contented and does make noises and whistles now and again....but would like to if I am expecting to soon. any info on your experiences?many thanks!

You've got to love English! You need 20 voules to spell a word, but 3 to pronounce it. Thanks to: Geoffrey Chaucer, 600 year old "Middle English" still survives. Jane... I have one for you: whats the difference between "The ole Coffee Shop" and "Ye ole Coffee Shop"?

Mark Peanuts in their shells can harbour fungi which can cause aspergillosis so I don't give mine the ones in shells. You can always try and offer food by hand, this is a very good way of taming and they will usually take it, especially if it is something they particularly like. It is early days though and he is still settling down so it is probably best not to rush him. Preston Not a lot really, ye means "you" but is also used for "the". Neither of them are likely to sell skinny lattes though! ;D Jane
