My irvin bird won't eat. I am so worried. He has never done this before. What could be wrong?

I don't know, but all species of birds behave much the same when they are ill - not eating and also fluffed up, sleepy or lethargic, dull eyes, abnormal or absent droppings.
Does he have any of these symptoms?

Hi, Yes, he appears sleepy and closes his eyes some. He has always had a good appetite and has been very healthy since we have had him. He still goes upside down though like he always has.

If he has always had a good appetite and now isn't eating and is sleepy I think he should see a vet.

I agree, but make sure the vet has experience with birds!

Hello, Thank you for the wise advise. He is eating again, his favorite is corn on the cob and he ate some of that and some greens. He is also talking.However I have taken your advice and have made a vet appointment for him to be checked. I have not had him long but he is a constant delight to us and I want him to remain healthy.

Good to hear that. Even if he checks out OK, my vet trims the talons and spruces him up bit for the ride home.

Yes, make sure you keep the appointment with the vet, but I'm glad he's eating again. Poor baby. Sometimes, if Joshua is off colour, I feed him baby food from a spoon or even a syringe, as it comforts him - even if it does not make any difference.
Preston, do tell, how does the vet spruce up Pete for the journey home? I totally understand getting Pete's nails trimmed. But what else? A shave? This is very intriguing.

Hehehe,
No shave! He shapes his beak, cuts the "nails"; a professional trim of wild feathers, and hangs one of those tree car fresheners around his neck. Good to go! ;D
