Ok I need some help. I have had jack for 3 weeks. He's always been a sweet heart. Last night I had his nails and wings trimmed. The lady came to my house and did it. She was very easy with him. But now when I try to get him out of his cage, he lunges and trys to bite. Is this normal after a wing and nail trim?? Please Help!!!!!!!

He is probably just cross with you for subjecting him to such an ordeal (!) and he might think it is going to happen again. He will come round.

Thanks Jane. I guess I am just too worried about him. But with them being so smart one can never tell what they are thinking.

I was wondering how well they take to maybe an emory board? just to knock the points down from time to time.I went to the Vet with my girlfriend to get her Eclectus's checkup and the Vet clipped some of his nails to short and they bled and she is a professional.

Jack's didn't bleed. He was fine thru it all. He growled at her alot and ruffled his feathers. But seemed ok afterward. He let me play with him while the other birds were being done. But now he isn't. Hopefully he will come around like Jane said.

Mannie--he will be fine. he is just upset and once he gets past that he will be fine. They can be little snots!! hahaha
DJ---I use an Emory board and it works well. I had the same problem with a vet who made Lily bleed three times!! I was not happy!! She also clipped her wings so short she cannot fly now and just thuds to the ground--grrrrr Thankgoodness I have found a REAL vet now and he is wonderful with her. She loves him too. Yay

He is out as we speak. He is sitting on my knee eating a waffle fry. I know they are good for him but I was feeling so bad. i had to give him his favorite treat. The good thing about them no salt. But he is happy ;D

I also use an emory board on marleys claws, he is used to it now but still trys to nibble it when i do him, he does have his wings clipped but i always let him have a good fly around for a few weeks before hubby clips him, but as soon as the clippers come out he knows whats going to happen and flies straight to me, saying NO NO. he is so funny at times.
