Hi, everyone.......BEWARE of cheap toys.....My parents have a military macaw (Polly Ester) and she had a toy "designed for large parrots" that hung from the top of her cage it was a chain with a bell on the bottom. Well, she pulled the bell off of the chain and somehow the chain caught onto itself forming a noose, and she stuck her head into it. When my dad walked by the cage he thought she was playing, what he couldn't see it that under all of those feathers she was choking to death. She kept making such a racket that he knew something was wrong, and upon closer inspection he saw what was happening and cut her down. Mind you a very large, very unhappy parrot. She nipped him a few times, but she was scared. She thanked him later with a kiss, I believe she new he saved her life. I am sharing this story with all of you because it can happen to anyone!!!!!!

Wow!
Thanks for the heads up (no pun intended). What a good thing that your dad happened to be home at the time. I dread to think of Polly's fate had no one been there! Thanks again!
